Two injuries and we start to look very vulnerable. Minichello, Laffranchi and Harrison are going to run that back row of ours around till they run out of gas.

If you ignore last weeks game, our side stacks up OK against theirs. Our weakness lies in our backline defence and Vai Vai coming in for Best only makes that problem worse.

I would have Simpson in for Talanoa. Fetuli just doesn't cut it in defence for mine and is a major liability regardless of his try scoring ability. Watch the Titans target him.

The Titans have a small, but very quick side. John Cartwright being the smart coach he is, will no doubt employ the same tactics that Brian Smith did against our immobile forwards. That is unless Lang has an ace up his sleeve :wall1:

Predictable team, maybe Lang had more input into selections when JT was coach then we thought as this is very much a JT team.

Simpson sure has done something wrong as he showed a lot more than Talanoa last season and still he is in Reggies, Merritt should be fullback etc

Simpson is injured with a hammy strain. He is expected to be out for one week only.

Thanks Jas, couldn't see why else Simpson wouldn't have replaced Talanoa.

Great one round in and we already have Ross, Crocker, Best, Pettybourne and Simpson. Which means we are down to 20 out of our top 25 available. Not a great idea to recruit players like Crocker and Ross who are old and carrying major injuries , a few other injuries and you are struggling virtually before the season starts. Let alone having players like Crossman, Mc Queen, Corrigan and Capewell in the squad.

I'm going to be critical of John Sutton here. It seems to me he's form or lack of it seems to be going un-noticed and escaping criticism. Watching him last week did nothing to impress me and convinced me that he is nowhere near the SOO 5/8 that most keep bragging about.

He's lacking the ability to show direction, takes the wrong option when we're in the oppositions 20 and is soft in defence. As far as I'm concerned the team revolves around Sutton. He has to fire the side up and get the attacking raids going.

Playing a "blinder" one game out of four is simply not good enough. I can give him the benefit of the doubt by saying he's still getting over a neck injury but if that's the case he should be recovering off the field or with the Bears.....Get your act together Sutto, the team needs you.

The problem for Sutton is his lack of consistency. He needs everything to go his way, with his forwards well on top, before he shows his wares. John has head problems.

But he was so terrible last Sunday that I wonder whether he has fully recovered from his neck injury.

He's definitely lacking consistency Perp and I think the reason for that is his lack of confidence due to that horrific sternum injury he sustained back in '06 ( I think ) and mentally he has never recovered from it.

If that's the case, John, then Sutton hasn't the mentality of a warrior.

When I think Warrior I think Lurch and Satts.........we have had a few 'Pretenders to the Crown' since then !!

Jas why was Rocky pulled from the bears line up last week is he injured or did he root someone's missus?

add Corrigan and McQueen on the sidelines for extended injuries. Ed Paea is getting closer to a recall

Had a look at the TAB odds for this match this morning....

Souths $1.75
Gold Coast $2.05 (1.5 start) :twoconfused:

Does Munsie know something we don't??

Get on! You couldn't possibly back Souths at that quote.

you could always put your money on the Titans, that is pretty good value given Souths form.

yes, but how often do we win the games we shouldn't and loose the games we should win?

Not sure on that one Stewie. Apparently he has trained this week so I can't see what the problem is. Maybe he did root someone's missus. Good luck to him. May be the only first grade action he sees for a while!:winking:

my information is he will take a needle to get through the game such is the toll the injury savaged season. Such is the case that Joe Williams has been signed up on match payments and will be making his comeback via the bench with the bears.
