SHARP-SHOOTING STU (NRL ROUND 7)

Well, it's hard to believe that 7 Rounds of the 2008 NRL Season has already come and gone. The ladder is still fairly congested, but there appears to be a clear gulf developing between the teams that will feature in September action, and those that will make up the numbers.
What More Can You Say?
I know that the Rabbitohs are a bit of an easy target at the moment, but after watching their last couple of performances I just couldn't resist another dig. The types of errors they are making are almost comical for a First Grade side, and no doubt their supporters will be hoping they have surely reached the bottom now and things can start to improve. The match on Friday Night pretty much saw the Rabbitohs run through the whole list of cardinal league sins, and then some. There were kicks out on the full, simple dropped balls, failure to trap the opposition in-goal, players taken into touch on the first tackle, and they even managed to lose a scrum against the head. All of these things combine to effectively give their opposition a 12 point head start. With performances such as these, it is no wonder a few of the players decided to hit the bottle.
Coasting Along
In direct contrast to the Rabbitohs, the early season form of the Gold Coast Titans has been outstanding. In fact, it is hard to believe this team is only in it's infancy. Their style of play reminds me of the West Tigers circa 2005, and it is not beyond the realms of possibility that they could match the Storm's effort of winning the Premiership in just their second season of existence. Coach John Cartwright has been able to wring every ounce of ability from some of his squad, who perhaps struggled with consistency in their previous football lives. I know we are a long way from the finish, but what price an all Queensland Grand Final for the first week of October?
