Lewis tunes out the drama
By David Riccio | May 25, 2008 12:00am

SOUTH Sydney's major signing for 2009, Luke Lewis, has chosen to ignore the club's crisis and says he remains committed to the Rabbitohs.
As uncertainty engulfs the Redfern bunker, Lewis said he was speaking from experience when he claimed the Rabbitohs' future could be revived by a more committed football team.

It was Lewis' Penrith side that this season were faced with player unrest after a poor start to the season.

They now sit four points behind competition leaders Gold Coast
.
"You don't wish that upon anyone, having a rough trot,'' Lewis said.

"The good sign is they're still out there having a go and they just need a bit of luck to go their way.

The comp is so close, they pull three or four wins together and they're straight back in it.

"I'm sure all this can go away because we went through the same thing.

"They're not out of the picture, they've just got to get some confidence up.'
'
Lewis signed a four-year deal with Souths last month and remains the club's biggest signingfor next year.

Called in as 18th man for NSW last week, Lewis said he stillhad representative goals to achieve with the Rabbitohs.

"I've got a few ambitions that I'd love to do. I'd love to get back into Origin ... make a few rep teams and play some semi-final football and just really enjoy my footy for the next couple of years,'' he said.

Of the Rabbitohs' problems and Peter Holmes a Court's refusal to guarantee the club's future, Lewis said: "To tell you the truth I don't even read the papers.

"At least if I don't know, it won't hurt - that's my little philosophy. The only thing I look at in the papers is to see what's on at the movies.''
