IS CRAIG Wing ready to walk from South Sydney? The mail was everywhere this week about Wing and his girlfriend, Zoe Foster, telling close friends he was having second thoughts about returning to Redfern.

"That's not right," Wing told Sin Bin just before taking his seat ringside at the Anthony Mundine fight in Melbourne on Wednesday night. "I've only played seven minutes for them - I'd like to play more than that."

Still, you could certainly understand his nose being out of joint. In an interview with the Herald on the eve of the season, Wing admitted he was jealous watching the Rabbitohs from afar last year as the players donned Armani and took yacht rides on the harbour and shimmied down the red carpet at film premieres. Now the budget has been reeled in, the party's over, and the club is apparently in crisis.

Wing's press conference at Sydney Airport, where he was flanked by co-owners Russell Crowe and Peter Holmes a Court trumpeting his signing, must feel an eternity away.
