Shameful Treatment of a Champion
Tonight was a night to forget for Rabbitohs fans. But one item from the game should be of grave concern. Let's ask the question: Who made the continued decision to leave Greg Inglis on the field? Inglis tried to run his knee injury out and ended up coming to the sideline. Next moment he is hobbling back out and shunted to the wing. Being the champion that he is he did his best despite his condition. By 10 minutes from half time he was signalling to the sideline that he was gone. But still he stayed out there. He was in such bad condition the Tigers didn't even number up on him from a scrum and he remarkably scored a try. Then he appeared again in the second half. He still did his best. Even grabbed a wayward kick with open field in front of him. He couldn't run. The Tigers, aware of his predicament, gently handled him. The ultimate embarrassment for a champion player. Left out on the field when the call should have been made early to look after him. Whoever made the call to leave him out there, repeatedly, and even after he had signalled he was gone, should not be at our club. Can you imagine the Broncos or the Storm treating a champion in this fashion? No. This was a shameful incident in our club's history and someone should be held accountable for it.
